Dr Nathan Phan

Dr Nathan Phan received his dental training at Melbourne University and graduated in 1999. After graduating he has been in private practice for the last 21 years working in Essendon, Keilor, and Marybrynong. He embarked on his first dental practice located at 1138 Mt Alexander rd Essendon (inside the SIA medical centre) After several years of planning he relocated his dental practice to its current location Suite 2a 82 Keilor Rd Essendon in 2010. This is where Dental Essence was born.

The practice was created with a vision to deliver high quality comprehensive dentistry in a relaxed and caring environment. In order to provide this Dr Phan updates his knowledge by attending regular Continuing Education. Post graduate courses that Dr Phan has completed: – Rotary Endodontics 2001 – Cerec Restorations 2008 – Level 3 Certificate Australian society of Implant Dentistry 2008 – GIDE Implant Masters UCLA course 2010 – Progressive Orthodontics 2011-current.

In his spare time Dr Phan is a long suffering Carlton supporter, and has a tendancy to celebrate Melbourne Storm wins to keep his mind off Carltons lack of success. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and recently discovered smokey single malt whiskies.

Dr Barry Creighton

Dr Creighton holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, which he gained at Sydney University. For some years, Dr Creighton owned a very successful private dental practice in Sydney. He was known among his patients as “the gentle dentist”.

Dr Creighton observed the benefits to both patients and dental practices of being able to offer gentle dental sedation at the practice and with the dental team with which the patient was familiar. In the past, the usual procedure has been that patients who are anxious or experience dental phobia when undergoing procedures they find unpleasant, are referred to a hospital for a general anaesthetic.

So impressed by the benefits was he, that Dr Creighton embarked on the very challenging journey to gain appropriate qualifications and commence his own dental intravenous sedation practice. With that goal in mind, Dr Creighton was one of a select few to gain admission – and succeed in completing – a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation & Pain Control), requiring an additional 2 years of post-graduate studies. He has earned membership of the Australian Society of Dental Anaesthesiology.

Today, Dr Creighton provides mobile services to dentists and their patients as principal of Dental Sedation Victoria. With his commitment to delivering exceptional quality care, he models excellence in dental care that reflects positively on the dental clinics in which he works.

Dr Nhon Thai

Dr Thai graduated from Melbourne University and comes with more than 25 years experience. He is a proud father to a 2 year old, avid fisherman, adventurous foodie (when we can actually go out to eat) and enjoys having a cheeky Pinot over the weekend.

He has spent over 9 years as a dental business owner and recently as a clinical teacher. His passion is to educate patients on how to maintain their teeth for as long as possible and loves the feeling of helping someone attain a healthy beautiful smile.

In addition to providing comprehensive general dentistry services, he has a special interest in dental implants and bonded adhesive dentistry (natural tooth like fillings).

Dr Thai is an enthusiastic participant in continuing education courses and believes in keeping up with the latest advances in the dental field. He has a gentle touch and a calm temperament.

Stephanie Sereno - Oral Health Therapist

Stephanie completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at La Trobe University. She has worked in public health, private and internationally, which has allowed her to gain useful experience and knowledge to develop key skills in providing guidance of prevention for each individual. Stephanie takes pride in the management and prevention of dental caries and gum disease whilst working with child and adults alike.

She is passionate about promoting the very real benefits and principals of prevention and early intervention dentistry. Since graduation she has undertaken continuing studies and gained valuable experience, it’s her gentle touch, friendly and caring nature that helps anxious patients who are afraid of visiting the dentist feel comfortable and relaxed.

Outside the practice you most likely will find Stephanie spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved Carlton football team.
