Our Team

Dr Nathan Phan

Dr Nathan Phan received his dental training at Melbourne University and graduated in 1999. After graduating he has been in private practice for the last 21 years working in Essendon, Keilor, and Marybrynong. He embarked on his first dental practice located at 1138 Mt Alexander rd Essendon (inside the SIA medical centre) After several years of planning he relocated his dental practice to its current location Suite 2a 82 Keilor Rd Essendon in 2010. This is where Dental Essence was born.

The practice was created with a vision to deliver high quality comprehensive dentistry in a relaxed and caring environment. In order to provide this Dr Phan updates his knowledge by attending regular Continuing Education. Post graduate courses that Dr Phan has completed: – Rotary Endodontics 2001 – Cerec Restorations 2008 – Level 3 Certificate Australian society of Implant Dentistry 2008 – GIDE Implant Masters UCLA course 2010 – Progressive Orthodontics 2011-current.

In his spare time Dr Phan is a long suffering Carlton supporter, and has a tendancy to celebrate Melbourne Storm wins to keep his mind off Carltons lack of success. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and recently discovered smokey single malt whiskies.

Dr Barry Creighton

Dr Creighton holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, which he gained at Sydney University. For some years, Dr Creighton owned a very successful private dental practice in Sydney. He was known among his patients as “the gentle dentist”.

Dr Creighton observed the benefits to both patients and dental practices of being able to offer gentle dental sedation at the practice and with the dental team with which the patient was familiar. In the past, the usual procedure has been that patients who are anxious or experience dental phobia when undergoing procedures they find unpleasant, are referred to a hospital for a general anaesthetic.

So impressed by the benefits was he, that Dr Creighton embarked on the very challenging journey to gain appropriate qualifications and commence his own dental intravenous sedation practice. With that goal in mind, Dr Creighton was one of a select few to gain admission – and succeed in completing – a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation & Pain Control), requiring an additional 2 years of post-graduate studies. He has earned membership of the Australian Society of Dental Anaesthesiology.

Today, Dr Creighton provides mobile services to dentists and their patients as principal of Dental Sedation Victoria. With his commitment to delivering exceptional quality care, he models excellence in dental care that reflects positively on the dental clinics in which he works.

Dr Peter Huynh

Peter is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree before qualifying for his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He is proficient in all facets of dentistry but particularly enjoys surgery. Having been trained in cosmetic anti-wrinkle and dermal fillers he is also completing his fellowship in orthodontics.

Peter is passionate about increasing oral health awareness globally. He has led numerous trips to regional Nepal to address the poor oral health standards there, heading a team that provided dental treatment and oral health education to remote villagers of all ages.

Having once been an anxious patient himself, Peter prides himself on his friendly chair-side manner and strives to deliver long-term benefits to his patients through a collaborative approach. He is dedicated to providing personalised dental care to support his patients in overcoming their dental phobias so that they can actually enjoy visiting the dentist.

Peter is the proud dad of his two dogs Bailey and Cosmo, and a self-confessed movie buff in his spare time. He finds his escape from dentistry while skiing and travelling the world to try all the amazing cuisines that the world has to offer.

Peter Nguyen

Peter completed his studies to become an Oral Health Therapist at the University of Melbourne in 2016.

Through the Bachelor of Oral Health degree, Peter gained experience working in community dental clinics across Victoria and as part of his final year research program, he had the opportunity to work in remote and rural dental clinics in the Northern Territory providing dental treatment and oral health promotion to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Since graduating, Peter has worked in a variety of general dental clinics as well as Orthodontist and Periodontist to help develop and refine his dental knowledge.  Throughout his years in dentistry, Peter has found his passion for managing gum disease and providing a pleasant dental experience particularly for the nervous anxious patient.

In his spare time you would find Peter trying new restaurants with his fiancé and playing with his dogs, Axel the German shepherd and Theo the Maltese-Shitzu.
